Hora punta was created with the idea to provide a programme that combined elements befitting a documentary with a news programme, responding to a format known as infotaintment, somewhere between a news programme and entertainment, aimed at the general public. The secret of this production for TVE is in providing spectacular images with a high human interest.
Presented by the actor Ramón Langa in the first stage and currently by the journalist
Francesc Cruanyes, the programme is based on a verbal and visual language easy for everyone to understand. The images, of a very diverse origin, are presented in a cinematographic structure that makes them even more attractive and spectacular.
The most unusual cases appear on the programme every week and there is a section dedicated to spectacular rescues, natural phenomena such as volcanoes, storms, tidal waves, traffic accidents, experiences with animals, dangerous sports or riots in prisons around the world, to mention but a few. Some of the images are home videos, the result of coincidence or special talent of the amateur to be in the right place at the right time.
Other situations of high risk or interest are dramatised to make them intelligible, and are presented with a high level of realism. The survivors themselves are often the protagonists of the tale told in the first person. In some cases, these witnesses and the cases presented are spine chilling, proving that, very often, truth is more incredible than fiction.
