Once again the music of the 20th century was the focus of the programme that was broadcast weekly on TV3 from June 1999 under the title 100 anys de cançons. After the success experienced by the programme Un siglo de canciones amongst Valencian audiences, a grand musical show was once again produced, made up of the same songs from the last hundred years. Moreover, in this show there was a personalised musical ranking, with a selection of the viewers themselves and by using all the resources and genres available in television.
The popular singer Nina and the actor Àlex Casanovas were the couple chosen to present this programme of nostalgia in which Nina herself sang some of the best known tunes at the beginning of the show each week. The audience also came up with a list of their favourite songs which, in the majority of cases, were performed on the show, either by the original singers or the programme's singing team. Some of the artists invited by TV3 were Joan Manuel Serrat, Raimon, Miguel Bosé, Maria del Mar Bonet, Marina Rossell, Rita Pavone and the Dúo Dinámico.
Every week two families took part in the quiz, three members of each family representing three generations, and they had to pit their wits against each other in musical knowledge. Some of the tests that had to be overcome consisted of guessing the year of some tunes or remembering the lyrics of some songs. In this case, the programme
team went out into the street to get people to sing.
The programme showed images from down memory lane that covered local and world history featuring historic events, fashions, trends and the songs themselves. By means of the songs and experiences of the recently ended century, a quiz was also organised, suitable for several generations, giving the programme a competitive and entertaining touch.
