After the great success of Un siglo de canciones in 1999, once again Canal 9 and Gestmusic produced a musical programme that was broadcast weekly in prime time under the title 2000 canciones. Choosing the music that most marked the lives of the Valencian people during the 20th century, the aim of the programme continued in which once again Lolita and Juan Y Medio were the presenters.
In the same spirit, the new show by Canal 9 recreated the themes and melodies that had surpassed the fleeting success of the time and had become part of the musical and sentimental history of several generations. This time some of the artists invited included Tom Jones, Pancho Céspedes, La Vieja Troba Santiaguera, Carlos Vives, Niña Pastori and Maria Creuza. All of them sang new and old hits from the 20th century.
The singers were not the only special guests though. Famous people from all walks of life came on the show to be interviewed about their memories and their professional careers. Among them featured Alfredo Landa, Concha Velasco, Miliki, Florinda Chico, Bibiana Fernández, Jesulín de Ubrique, Raquel Meroño, the sadly missed Pedro
Carrasco and Josema Yuste. A song was dedicated to all of them.
There was also a quiz section for all the family, who had to pass new tests that required skill, a good memory and musical knowledge. Placing historic events chronologically or guessing the name of a song with the original music but the words changed were other new sections.
