The most popular tunes and pleasant songs featured in the 21 programmes of
Canciones de nuestra vida which was shown in 1997 on Antena 3 Televisión. It was
a nostalgic trip through viewers’ memories and of the history of the 20th century, above
all in terms of music.
Each week, and according to the audience’s requests, songs from all times were sang,
both Spanish and international tunes. A large troupe of singers and dancers accompanied
by the programme’s orchestra provided versions of the best numbers, the perfect
excuse to take a stroll down memory lane to the year in which they were hits.
By being the viewers themselves who chose the songs, some of them appeared on the
set to talk about what the song reminded them of or why that tune was so special to their
lives. They were very emotional moments for the people recounting their past memories.
The viewers also contributed to choosing the best songs in their lives and to make up
an original hit parade, unique in that it responded to people’s preferences and not the
number of records sold. Titles such as Mis manos en tu cintura, Un sorbito de champán or Melodía desencadenada were three of the most voted for songs, being the most popular by a long stretch.
The actor Francis Lorenzo presented the show in which there were also other musical
sections. In some cases some compilation songs were sung in honour of a particular
singer or decade, for example. Ballroom dancing also had its place with a ballroom dancing competition for adults and children.
Mention should also be made of memorable performances of young singers who, incredibly, sang a duo with their idols. The magic of television made it possible for a young girl to dance the tune of Pena, penita, pena alongside Lola Flores and for others to do the same with Joselito, Nino Bravo, Miguel de Molina or Cecilia. |
