New Year’s Eve on TV3

The success of the programme Amor a primera vista on the Catalan autonomous channel was a decisive influence on the production of a special programme to celebrate the New Year of 1991 on TV3. The original format of the programme was largely respected, that is, there were three feminine and three masculine contestants looking for the perfect partner. What made this show unique was that the contestants were six famous people: on the feminine side there was the newsreader Ŕngels Barceló, the actress Ariadna Gil and multifaceted Lloll Bertran; facing them were the journalist Joaquim M. Puyal, the newsreader Jordi Llompart and the showman-magician Mŕgic Andreu.

The masters of ceremonies were the usual presenters, the actors Ŕlex Casanovas and Montse Guallar and the result could not have been better since three couples were formed. Even though the usual prizes were not on offer, there was a high input of humour and warmth and some very special performances to liven up the night. The performances of the soprano Montserrat Caballé, the popular Dyango and the group Los Manolos, rounded off this unique show to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic year in Barcelona.
