Those crazy little ones

Esos locos bajitos was a programme starring children, but it was not a children’s programme. Each week, a group of ten children were the stars of an authentic variety show that included interviews with the famous, music performances, dance contest, comedy, debates and videos with opinions of other children from all over Spain regarding questions of all kinds.

Bertín Osborne kept the programme in order, although not always successfully. It is no easy task handling a group of children aged between 5 and 11 speaking and arguing about aspects of life. Each week a debate was set up for the children appearing and they were also set a difficult-to-solve problem. Despite what you might expect, their answers were not always ridiculous and many of them were very sensible.

A famous personality also visited the set and was subjected to a veritable third degree interview by the small group, asking them the most incredible questions. Carmen Sevilla, Azúcar Moreno, Sara Montiel, Jose Coronado, Marta Sánchez, Bertín Osborne himself and many others were bombarded with a relentless interrogation by the children.

The programme was complemented with children’s performances, above all songs, by some of the talents discovered on Stars in the Making. There was also a ballroom dancing ompetition and variety shows with contortionists and comedians. All this was seasoned with video clips filmed in different schools around Spain. Children from nursery school through to primary school age gave their opinions about political and social questions and everything else, and all undertaken with a great sense of humour.
