In 1992 Gestmusic gave a debut in Spain to the programme Lose a million by the British production company Action Time, a creation of Andrew OConnor, Toby Freeman and Stephen Leahy. Ruļna total, as it was called in its versions for TV3 and
Canal 9, and Gezurra nagusi, for ETB 1. This original show, which was broadcast Mondays to Friday, was an anti-quiz where the prize of a trip was awarded to the contestant capable of losing, without a care, the princely sum of 500 million pesetas. To
achieve this they had to go to great pains to do the tests of skill proposed by the programme as badly as possible and to answer the questions even more poorly. Only through their total ruin could the contestant win the prize: a trip to an exotic country.
It sounds easy, but to make so much money disappear and do everything so badly was no easy task in just 30 minutes. Heading such a ruinous show was Emilią Carrilla for TV3, Ximo Rovira for Canal 9 and José Felipe Auzmendi for ETB 1. |
